There has been so much sunshine! It’s fun to just go out and play, with no vision or goal, just to explore and photograph whatever I find along the way. I’m not generally big into shooting in direct sun or at high noon, but I changed my mind. It was fun messing to see the different bokeh effects with the sun shining and reflecting off the water. Focal length makes a huge difference with toning down the harsh shadows of the sun.

This is my baby boy who turns 6 in just a few days. Where does the time go??

And my little Tilda Jane who turns 5 in March! She has eyes of coal so it’s always a hit or miss if you can get them to show up.

It was and is a sight to behold. Christmas is such a busy time and while I tried so hard to take time out to rest in Jesus, I was only left wanting more, but thankful for His grace in always meeting me where I am. Yesterday I photographed a family who is loosing their mother. I took this couples wedding photos this past July and her mother was just fine, but she was diagnosed with lou gehrig’s disease and is quickly loosing all mobility and in a wheel chair. Through mumbles as her daughter listened intently she asked for her lip gloss so she could look pretty for the pictures and my heart just continued to break little by little. While the family is trying to remain joyful, I was reminded of how quickly our life is here on earth and how in the blink of an eye the ones we love most could be gone. Every. Moment. Counts.

My favorite one today. A quiet walk.

when I sit at night my mind is still hustling.

So much to do, things to wrap,
packages to ship, cards, labels, boxes, bags, bows, ribbons,
and each night I want to crash.

As of a late a still small voice pulls me aside out of the flurry
to ask what would happen if I wasn’t in such a big hurry?
Things in a disarray as I operate in my own disorganized way,
and then I think of those who are loosing loved ones every day.

In my own little world I run round and round on the wheel,
and my mother pulls me aside and says,
“Ask the man who lost his wife what is a big deal?”

God has surpassed my every expectation as I reflect on this past year
Leading me so faithfully into his purpose as I draw near
I learn His presence is never changing, only mine is the one lacking at times

Each night as I lay in bed I can only thank him for how deep, high and wide
His love endures as he sticks by my side
A home over which he watches, protects and hides under the shadow of his wings
A family over which he reminds me daily matter more than any boxes, bags, ribbons, or bows
A business over which he blesses and beyond measure he grows
An awareness of his presence of which is the most valuable treasure of all
And each and every one of you who allow me to photograph your families and have a ball.

This Christmas I hope everyone will just stop, even for just a minute
And reflect on the amazing salvation, giving thanks for God’s divine hand in it.
He is the same in June as December, but somehow all the gifts we buy and shiny things we see
can sometimes outshine the greatest gift of all which we were given for free.

This year my parent’s celebrated 30 years and my grandparents celebrated 60 years of marriage! I have such great examples in my life of the love, hardship, endurance and sacrifice that go into weaving a solid family. While we have many photos of all the dogs around here, photos of the family were really lacking. My new walls are so bare, and while I love the pups, these are the people I love who are so near and dear to my heart. I am so overjoyed as to how everyone was captured just how I see them as being. My mom and dad laughing and being goofy, as mom embarrasses dad. My grandma being a total diva as grandpa just laughs. I know these are images our family will be treasured for years to come and passed on to the next generation. The feeling I have about these photos makes me even more happy to know that I am able to give others that same joy in capturing their moments in life. God is so good and I am so blessed to have such amazing family I can call my best friends.

I am so blessed to have both grandmother’s. I think they become more beautiful every single year. Of course my mother truly is my best friend though thick and thin and I am more thankful for her each year that passes. I know there are many more things she will teach me in my life time, but one of the biggest things she’s taught me is about time. I used to whine about not having enough time and she promptly set me straight and told me to never complain about not having enough time because we choose what we do with our time. I have been very careful ever since to choose wisely in whom and what I invest my time. Family became a huge priority for me after that conversation with her many years ago. It has helped me so much in managing my business. I do choose what I do with my time, and I so love and cherish the people with whom I spend it!

Everything is so green and blooming and it is so refreshing from the dark days of winter.

This is my little Lilly Jean being a tut tut like always. Of course she would not look at the camera, but I just love the light on her in this pic and all the sparkly bokeh!

And this is the trouble maker, Simba! Simba is just a puppy and he likes to play so many games. I had the privilege of capturing him playing with the hose in the bird bath. He tries to catch the water and it is so hilarious to watch!

If it isn’t obvious, I absolutely love animals!!! This puppy is the cutest dog ever, so full of personality, and he and the cats are best buddies! I love to watch how animals interact and take care of each other. They may not speak, but they sure say so much through what they do. Makes me wonder sometimes, if I did not speak I might be more careful about what I do. Animals don’t have a chance to justify through words, actions are all they have so it’s neat to see what they say.:)

Hmmmm, not so sure about you with that camera….

This is a z-donk (zebra/donkey). I love the country. This is my idea of photo walking! Some people like fire hydrants and beat up alley ways, but I just love nature!

These are my little cousins. They are just too cute. Typical boys being boys. Sweet and innocent here, until they crashed to the ground!
